  1. First Generation (1G): Launched in 1979 by Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT) in Japan.
  2. Second Generation (2G): Introduced in 1991 in Finland, offering encrypted calls and SMS/MMS capabilities.
  3. Third Generation (3G): Introduced in 2001 by NTT Docomo in Japan, offering four times faster data transfer speeds than 2G.
  4. Fourth Generation (4G): First available in 2009 in Europe, unveiled in Stockholm and Oslo.
  5. Fifth Generation (5G): Fully-fledged 5G mobile networks introduced in 2019 by South Korea.

Motorola’s 50th Anniversary Special Edition Phone:

In January 2023, Motorola announced the Edge 30 Fusion Viva Magenta special edition phone, featuring a soft vegan leather rear panel and a polished sandblasted aluminum frame. This device highlights Motorola’s rich heritage in innovation, from delivering the world’s first commercially available 5G-upgradable smartphone to the first clamshell smartphone.

First Call at 50 – An Interview with Martin Cooper: Motorola has published a video titled “First Call at 50: An Interview with Martin Cooper” on its YouTube channel. In the video, Martin Cooper discusses the first public portable cell phone call he made and the exciting advancements that will continue to transform humanity.
